Colin Galvin is a native of the St. Louis Metro East area, where he continues to live and work as a music educator and performer. Colin graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in music education/trumpet performance and a master’s degree in trumpet performance and literature, respectively. While attending university, he was fortunate to work with many prestigious educators and conductors, including: Ronald Romm, Charles Daval, John Hagstrom, Augusta Read-Thomas, and Richard Prior. He currently acts as Music Director at Okawville Jr./Sr. High School, where he directs all instrumental and vocal ensembles grades 4-12, as well as head brass instructor for the nationally competitive O’Fallon Township Marching Panthers. As a performer, Colin maintains a wide musical palate; he continues to work with several regional symphony orchestras as a section player, major cruise lines as solo and lead trumpet, a local salsa band, and of course the St. Louis Brass Band! In all musical ventures, Colin attempts to teach problem-solving and critical-thinking skills which students can apply to whatever they feel is their passion in life.
